Travis is off around the world filming again, so the boys and I have come to stay in Missoula with the family.

Kathryn loves to play with the boys (for a short while, and then she's ready to go watch Netflix or play in the snow with her best friend Fletcher), and the boys completely adore her. Everything she does makes them laugh hysterically.

The four of us went out and played in the snow on Thursday, and we had a lot of fun:

But then, sadly, everyone in the house got sick except Kathryn and me. Even the boys are acting whiney and pathetic, all they want to do is snuggle.

Micah is especially taken with Jack, and sat happily cuddled with him most of the evening:

The Secret Garden

Tonight, Kathryn was in the the Missoula Children's Theater's the Secret Garden. She was a member of the Garden. She sure was cute! This is the closest thing I've ever seen to what school plays (grade school) look like in the movies. It was great. The little actors only had 4 days to rehearse, and they were all amazing.

Christmas Time in Missoula

Jack, Kathryn, and Dad spent a Saturday enjoying Missoula's Family Day downtown. After a day of making cookings and s'mores and seeing (the perhaps homeless?) Santa, we picked up Mom and went to the Parade of Lights and the lighting of the giant Christmas tree downtown. There were thousands of people, a bonfire by Boyscouts, a children's choir singing Christmas carols. It sounds like a Norman Rockwell painting when I write about it, although close-up it wasn't as nice. Maybe because of the anemic lighting job on the ol' community Tannebaum.

Last night was The Day of the Dead, a Mexican holiday that aims to remember ancestors and other deceased friends and family.

Weirdly enough, Missoula has a huge Day of the Dead parade and downtown party every year on November 2nd.

Jack got extra credit in his Spanish class if he dressed up and walked in the parade, so Becky did the kids' makeup and they walked with all the other creepy "dead people" in the nighttime parade.

Lots of people brought art, paintings, kites, even the dates of dead loved ones painted on to sheets that they carried while they walked.

Lots of the store fronts even displayed Day of the Dead stuff... I kind of want to go back and buy one of those awesome pillows.

There were some other people with really cool makeup, but Jack and Kathryn had the best makeup of any other kids. Jack's teacher and Kathryn's friends didn't even recognize them!

Missoula Mad Mudder 2011 Kids Race

This is the first Mad Mudder Missoula has had. Chris had originally planned on running the adult course with some friends, but changed his mind because he thought it was going to be too smokey. He and Jack went fly fishing in Glacier so Kathryn and I went instead! It wasn't as muddy as we expected from pictures we've seen of other similar races. Maybe because it is rare to have rain in Missoula at this time of year. The adults that ran also wore costumes and rolled in the mud just like the kids. It was pretty fun to watch. P.S. Kathryn has her first wiggly tooth. Bottom front!

And who can blame them? Look at her: funnest aunt ever.

These pictures were taken right before we headed off to church on Sunday, so Mary is all prettied up and the boys are actually wearing clothes...

We didn't try to match them, but Travis wants them to wear plain white onesies every single day (and he wears a plain white t-shirt every day... and so do I, usually) so most days all four of us match...

We're having so much fun with Mary here, and she's only driving us a little crazy (and we're only driving her a little crazy too, I hope.)

But she's being awesome, helping with the boys and keeping the house clean.
She even gets up in the wee hours of the morning to give the boys bottles and play patty cake.
My mother-in-law Carol loves to say that the boys look just like Mary, and I can see it a bit in these pictures.

On the rare night that nothing is going on in Missoula, we head up into the mountains or down the Bitterroot to find fun. Tonight Kathryn, Polly, and I went to the Creamery Picnic (99th Year) after I was done with work. We got there a little late, all but one vendor was out of BBQ. I had a pulled pork with slaw and Polly had brisket. Kathryn had pizza and a root beer float!?

After Dinner it was time to DANCE!

On the way home, I couldn't resist taking a picture of the sunset over the Bitterroot River.

It never occurred to me to take video of them racing down the mountain. Friday night fun in Missoula

We discovered the ropes and climbing course in Missoula and Jack went there last Friday for the first time. He had a blast and Kathryn was very jealous of him and begged to participate. The sign said it is for 8 and up and Kathryn is only 6 so I said no. At the end of Jack's 3 hour climb I asked the instructors about Kathryn climbing and they said absolutely bring her back next week. So we went back last night and gave it a go with Kathryn and Jack climbing. The pictures are not in the best order because I don't have the talent my daughters have with blogging, but I will explain them. Sorry these aren't the best quality photos, I forgot my camera and all the pictures were taken with my phone. After the climbing we left Jack to climb a little longer then Kathryn and Chris, Kathryn and I went on an awesome bike ride. Our weather was perfect and it was a great night to be outside enjoying summer, sunshine, no bugs and a great city to raise a family in!

The man was shaking like crazy and from the ground it looked like Jack was, he was being shaken but not shaking himself. Lets just clarify that point it is important, Jack was not shaking! Let's also clarify that I would have been!

Kathryn is insane. I was on the ground crying in fear for her life as she leapt from swing to swing with no fear. Even the instructors were shocked at Kathryn's lack of fear. This is the highest course she did, it is higher then the rings and the bridge and when I asked Kathryn how she felt when she looked down she said "This is just the right height I love it".

Ride to the Farmer's Market

Kathryn and her dad rode their bikes all the way to the Clark Fork Farmer's Market. They were hoping to find fresh tomatoes even though it is still a little early in the season. Mom was a little worried about the distance (2.5 miles each way!) but Kathryn was confident she could do it.

We had a great time at the market. The Missoula market is more like a fair than a farmer's market, with music, food vendors, artists, assorted jugglers and performers. This week is the Missoula Marathon, so the marathon Expo was going on downtown as well, so Kathryn did some rock-wall climbing, baseball, and gymnastics as well, and still rode home without a complaint. In fact, as we get nearing to home she kept challenging me to races. All in all, a perfect Missoula day, the kind that makes people who live here think it is the center of the universe.

For those of you who knew my Dad, say it along with me..... Mooooooooooo!

My dad taught me that there is two things you can do to a cow. Eat it or moo at it. These two are lucky.

On the southern hills of Missoula there is a development called "Mansion Heights". It might be the worst name ever for a development. Can you get anymore pretentious? My favorite part is that about half of the homes are split levels. This field is right next to Mansion Heights and is a great place to take panoramic vistas of missoula. Some night, I am going to stay up late enough and get a blue hour shot, but I am at the hospital at 7:00 am so no late nights for me right now!

No, we weren't visiting MN. There is a beautiful recreation area on Lake Como, about an hour south of Missoula. We decided last minute to go for the afternoon to have a family home evening since it is so hard to to during the week. It was pretty chilly, but on the plus side - no mosquitos.

Don't Squirt Anybody

Yeah, right.

Kathryn gave me her squirt gun to fill up, which I did. Then as she walked out the door I admonished her "don't squirt anyone". Who am I kidding? I might as well given her a license to soak. Talk about mixed messages, first I give her a super-soaker that holds enough water to turn everyone in the neighborhood into a hydrophobic, then tell her "no - don't use that for its intended purpose". A couple minutes later, I heard shrieking from the local urchins.

Both of my grandmas are here to visit! Grandma Mary flew in and is staying with us, and Grandma Marcie is here staying with Renn about 15 minutes away.

They've been hogging the babies, but I don't mind since today I got a nice long nap!

And Grandma Mary did all the dishes and laundry! She deserves to hold those boys.

The boys are getting so big and are starting to make some really goofy expressions!

And look at the cheeks on that boy!

Yesterday they had their 2 month check-up (and shots! it was so sad!) and Grey weighed 10lbs 9oz, and Micah weighed 9lbs 13oz. Grey is in the 20th percentile!

Considering that they were 5 weeks premature, that's pretty dang good.

(It's all the sugar and cream the boys take in... or just cream. Seriously, when I pump it looks like half and half)

It's such fun to have family here!

This is a little late, but here is what Kathryn looks like as a Six Year Old. We should have taken pictures on her birthday, but we were too busy.

We got up and had homemade waffles. These are waffles made from Papa Rod's dangerous non-UL listed 30+ year old waffle maker. No cool-touch exterior here; in fact, think Arrested Development Corn Baller. The benefit of that danger is a waffle maker that actually gets hot enough to make waffles they way they should be, crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside.

Then we played and colored for a couple of hours until we met Mom for lunch at our favorite restaurant, Cioa Mambas. After Mom went back to work, Kathryn and Dad went to Currents and swam for a few hours. Then, home for a quick snack and change before picking up Kathryn's friend and going to a night of fun and frivolity at Mismos Gymnastics until 9:30. All in all a pretty good day for a pretty great kid.

This dress was a present from sister Mary last year. It finally fits!

Closing Out Big Sky

My friend, Charlie, and I went to Big Sky and Moonlight Basin for the last weekend of the year. We were rewarded with fresh tracks, cool ski companions, and the pleasure of watching idiots pondskim.

This trip was on the opposite end of the spectrum apris-ski. We slept in my suburban. We were supposed to meet up with the other ski bums, but the first night we got lost in a blizzard and ended up pulling over on a little mountain road only to be woken up early in the morning by the man telling us we were on private property. That was ok since my suburban doesn't do wake-up calls and we wanted to get an early start (blizzard = powder). We skied all day, met up with some cool cats from Utah, and then followed Charlie's friends to the secret campsite - the parking lot.

Sitting around the campfire in the Moonlight Basin parking lot. We slept in my suburban. Others were more pimped out with motor homes.

Fresh snow + Blue-bird skies = sore grandpa.

Jack and Chris had a little detour when they went to Utah to see the boys. The weather was perfect and the biking was fun and challenging. This could easily become an annual event.

God Gave Fear to Protect Us

So what happens when there is no fear? You get monkey kids that just keep climbing up and up. Kathryn has been climbing the trees in our neighborhood. Even most of the other kids are worried, and they love to run up when I drive into our driveway to "tell" on Kathryn for being so high in the tree. Now I get this picture from my sister-in-law who took Kathryn for the day down in Utah. Why is she up there?

Kathryn is very high up in a tree. She can go even higher. It makes her mom very nervous. She likes to climb up high and watch people in the soccer field behind our home. Today she showed me a store 3 blocks from our house and said "I can see this from up in the tree". We went to the eye doctor today and she said "I might need glasses because when I'm up in my tree I can't really see the ground." She is at least 25 feet up. Should I be nervous? I think so. She could fall and break her neck. Chris says she could break her neck at gymnastics, or walking down the side walk or riding her bike. The sidewalk? Really? I doubt that. Chris also says he doubts she would fall and hit the ground. It would be a slow fall as she landed on branch after branch. He has a much more positive attitude then me.

I know it has been awhile since I've posted. Obviously lots of things have been happening in our family. I need to write more. Right now I am only blogging in an effort to hide my ears from how obnoxious Jack and his friend are being. I am wearing noise canceling headphones and listening to the blog music. Sometimes our apartment feels suffocatingly small. Like right now. Thirteen year olds boys are goofy, hyper, loud and stinky. Enjoy it while I can, right? It won't last forever. At least right now Jack seems to like me so I'm grateful for that. At what age do boys stop talking to their moms? Maybe never, hopefully never.

To those of you that care, I will try to blog more often. I need to write about our sweet little babies Grey and Micah. Soon Kathryn and I will go visit them in Utah and I will have to post pictures everyday!

Happy Valentines Day from Travis and Becky!

It's been a long time since we updated the blog, but here's what's going on with Becky and Travis:

We're still in Utah, and Becky is still very pregnant with twins. Travis got a job making videos for a company called Unicity, which is awesome.

And yesterday a stranger (friend of a friend) gave us two almost-new, matching carseats! Hurrah!

So all in all, we're living the good life.

Becky is 33 weeks pregnant on Wednesday, and the average delivery of twins is at 36 weeks, so the time is approaching fast! We could have babies here literally any day, but hopefully they'll at least wait until March.

Becky thinks it would be awesome if they were born on the ides of March (the 15th), St. Patrick's Day (the 17th) or the first day of Spring (March 21st).

But it doesn't seem likely she'll make it any further than that, if she gets to the 21st at all!

The nursery is finally almost completely arranged - although not completely decorated, sadly.

But at least we have somewhere to bring the babies home to when they do finally come.

We hope your Valentines Day is as awesome as ours will be (the plans include dining in and maybe going to an indoor pool? very romantic, isn't it?) and we will update you again soon!

22 Weeks

Hey family! In case you didn't read it on my other blog, here's the update.
At our most recent ultrasound we learned that the twins are definitely identical!
They're also growing really fast, and have doubled in size in just two weeks, they're each about a pound now.
This helps explain why I have been doubling in size.
Travis took my picture today after church, so you can all see how I've grown. We were in a hurry, and I was balancing on the edge of our planter box, so I was a little anxious, wobbly, and too impatient to stop talking and let him take the pictures, so they're a bit goofy - but here you go.

Travis and I are having twins!
They are both boys, both healthy, and both making me a crazy person. (I'm a little stressed out and hormonal right now. Travis can attest.)
This is an ultrasound of their faces and their little bellies. They have skin, but because they're so small and the ultrasound is so sensitive that the video flutters back and forth between between being kind of skelator and really cute.
Unfortunately you guys get the really skelator picture of Baby A.
Baby B is pretty cute, though, right?
His little arm is under his head. They've both got big round bellies, and those fluttery-looking parts are their hearts beating.

There are two babies in my belly.
I will prove this to you.

Stitches out today!

Today Kathryn went to the doctors to get her stitches out. She was really scared. Now Kathryn will tell you what happened:

"I went to the doctor cause I had to get my stitches out. What happened when they took the stitches out? They holded the tail of the stitch and they just pulled and the stitches came out. And what happened is I saw my friend Skye at the doctors office and I went in Dr Wolfe's office. And I got to see my friend Rowan with my friend Skye. Because they are brother and sister. They had to get a flu vaccine up their nose. It didn't hurt when I got my stitches out. It was fun when I saw Skye and Rowan. We had fun together. We split a stick fruit snack. First when I saw Skye I went in the women's bathroom and saw my friend Skye. I saw Rowan right away when I got in the waiting room and I got the stitches out on Monday November 15th. and it was kind of nice because it felt ticklish when they cleaned my fingers that almost got cut off. When I saw Dr Wolfe is when I got done with school and went home and then I got to the doctors. I waited till they called my name. The End! Thank Goodness Skye was there to take away some stress!!

Lolo Pass

Today we drove to Lolo Pass again, it's one of our favorite places. When we moved here we went hiking at Lolo Pass with Mary and Roger, Lisa and Nichole, I'm sure there is a past post about that. That was August and this is what Lolo Pass looks like in November. We came to find the snow so that Chris could take family photos for our friends the Little's. When he was done taking their pictures, they left and we stuck around. We took a short walk so we could see the snow and so Chris could take some pictures of Kathryn and I. We are his favorite models. Jack was complaining so he stayed in the Suburban and sulked while we had a nice time.

Mary keeps asking me to post a blog on Kathryn's fingers. She said "you posted Jack's burn so why haven't you posted Kathryn's fingers?" Honestly I was trying to protect all of you from the horror of seeing these sweet little fingers injured. So don't look if you can't handle it. I didn't post any pretreatment pic's. This is the email I sent Becky, Mary, and Lisa to tell them what happened. Talk about dramatic...

Prepare to be horrified as it was a horrific evening with a brave little Kathryn.

We went out to dinner last night with the Little's and the missionary's at Red Robin. Kathryn and James had a new toy. They both had a Hex Bug Nano http://www.hexbug.com/nano

They are really fun and fast little toys. They played with them all through dinner, they put the bugs on dessert plates and they just raced around in circles and entertained them all through the meal. After dinner the table next to us was clean and empty so Kathryn was racing her bug on it and it zipped away from her. She jumped up on the table to reach the bug and the table flipped, somehow Kathryn ended up under the table and when I lifted the table she just looked dazed.

I picked her up and Rebekah said "I see blood". I looked down and blood was flowing fast from Kathryn's fingers. I grabbed a napkin and applied pressure handed Kathryn to Chris and said we need to go to the hospital now. I didn't get a super good look at her fingers, but from what I saw I thought one finger might be almost cut off. We ran to the car and blasted to the hospital and ran her right in fast. When I got a good look at her fingers I started to cry. It was really horrible.

She actually cut two fingers on the soft side of the finger right before the first knuckle( but the opposite side). The doctor discussed putting Kathryn to sleep so she wouldn't fight him while he cared for her, but he opted to give her a nasal spray of Verset which is like Valium and helps her relax. She never really cried at all except when they gave her two shots one in each finger. Once her fingers were completely numb they x-rayed them to make sure nothing was broken. Actually one finger is broken, but I don't remember which one. It is the two middle fingers on her right hand that are hurt. She ended up getting 7 stitches in one finger and 4 stitches in the other. She was amazingly brave. Dad and Jared gave her a blessing. Kathryn was incredible the whole time. She and I didn't look I guarded her eyes the whole time and she laid

on Daddy's lap the whole time we were there. We did video the fingers before they were sewn up on Jared's ipod, but I doubt anyone wants to see the video.

Kathryn hasn't slowed down even though she has an injury. Luckily it is her right hand and she is left handed. She has been doing lots of writing. Practicing spelling. Her fingers aren't in a splint like that anymore. They were just in a splint for the first 24 hours.
This finger is cut in a half moon shape. It has 4 little stitches.
This finger is cut in a U shape, it has 7 stitches, and the tip of the finger is also broken.

It has now been exactly one week since the injury. Kathryn is healing nicely (we think?).

We did take her to see a specialist just to make sure we were taking care of everything we needed to and doing everything correctly. He doesn't think she'll have any long term problems just some bad scaring for a few years that will fade over time. Kathryn did say to me "Is this my wedding ring finger?" so she's been a little worried too. She hasn't had a lot of pain, because she guards her fingers really well. The worst pain has been when we remove the bandages to put clean ones on. She gets the stitches out Monday afternoon if the doctor thinks it looks ready and that is going to be a nightmare. I'm sure that will hurt a lot. As long as we're at it we might really torture her and have her get the flu shot too. Is that to cruel? Anxious for this ordeal to be over. It hasn't been fun for Kathryn. She said "If the Little's call and say "Let's go out to eat at Red Robin tonight" you say No we are not going to Red Robin ever again!"

On a side note, Jack has been drawing a lot lately. He has been taking a "controversial" after school class on graffiti. He is totally into it. There is a place in Missoula where you can go practice graffiti without getting arrested. He hasn't gone yet, but is looking forward to it.

Yesterday was my birthday and so my apartment threw a Happy Halloween Birthday party where we all dressed up. Most of the pictures where taken before everyone showed up because then it just became kinda crazy and stressful like all parties involving teenagers.
My Roommate made me a very yummy birthday cake that says happy Birthday in chinese :) It was very scrumptious.

P.S. Although none of us took their picture I would like you all to know there was a very awkward newly engaged couple at the party.

Baby Bump

So it happened.
Two days ago I looked down at my stomach while I was walking and I could see it.
My stomach was sticking out.
It has not gone away. It just appeared on Wednesday afternoon and now I guess it's probably here to stay.

This photo took me several tries, too. I'm not so good at using the timer on my camera and focusing manually on things that aren't yet in the screen. Travis was at work and I decided this couldn't wait another hour for him to come home.

And NO, I'm not "sticking it out" as Travis constantly accuses me of doing. It really looks like this on it's own.

In case you don't know, I am currently 16 weeks along (or was it 17? I'm losing track already) and we'll find out the sex of baby in *drumroll* 24 days! Just wait until Nov. 16th.
That is an exciting day.

Sundays are my favorite day of the week because we all dress up and look pretty PLUS eat a yummy roommate dinner of sorts. This weekend was the last before midterms and was scaryish. All my classes are easy but one... The pressure and time commitment to learning Mandarin chinese is ridiculously stressful but well worth it. Whenever I hear a chinese song or see instructions in chinese characters and can pick out a word I remember why I am taking chinese...Because its an AMAZING language, and I'm not going to lie it makes me feel pretty special.
I missed my family this week but have lost my phone, and its been gone since friday so I couldn't even call you. Anyways I wanted you to know I was alive and happy :) Hope you all had a good sunday.

When Matt and John (and families) came out to visit, we went up to Glacier National Park. We stopped on our way up to Logan Pass to goof around. Of course John and I started snapping pictures like crazy. Later found out that Nichole was hoping to do senior photos in Glacier. Well, Nichole is such a good model, we got plenty of pics without even knowing what we were doing!

National BIson Range

This past weekend, our family took a safari through the National Bison Range in western Montana. It is a nineteen mile loop filled with wildlife and beautiful scenery. There are lots of large mammals including bison, elk, mule deer, whitetail, wolves, coyote, black bear, grizzly, marmots and there was hardly anyone there. Very unlike Yellowstone and Glacier where you have to fight crowds. All in all, it was a really fun trip that just took about a half day including driving both ways. We will definitely head back there soon!

I don't normally go in for face painting (especially when it is $8), but Kathryn was very cute and didn't complain at all about not going on the rafting trip or the bad lunch decision I made.

It has been a very busy week and I think my parents are annoyed. I am sorry for that, but I am in college and its so much fun! I never have time to talk I am to busy playing and making friends and spotting boys who are handsome and mormon. Please be patient family, stories will come, and when roommates are no where to be seen descriptions of my first week of "Real" college will be told. But for now I will simply say I am alive, not dead, and happy, so SO happy!

And for the none (Becky) believers, here are my friends...NONE of whom are my roommates because I am not anti-social, in fact in turns out I am the opposite, who knew?

Yes Yes I know all the boys are dorky, but trust me there are some very fine boys on this campus...we just haven't had the pleasure of becoming friends yet...

Adventure Videos of Glacier

Chris took Jack and Kathryn camping in Glacier National Park in August right after Yellowstone. While they were there Kathryn and Chris made a video tour of the park with Kathryn as the guide. I wish we could've taken you to Glacier Lisa!! Maybe someday. Kathryn at Yellowstone

Here is a short video of Kathryn at Yellowstone National Park this past weekend. This is just a sneak preview. I will try to get more pictures and video up soon. We are waiting for Old Faithful to blow. It is just me and Kathryn because everyone else was hiking around and Kathryn wouldn't go because she was to tired and no one would carry her. Did I say tired? Actually she never stopped jumping around the whole time we waited for everyone. Old Faithful was supposed to blow at approximately 7:11 and it didn't blow until probably 7:35. By that time it was pouring rain outside and we were watching through windows with tons of other people, so not as thrilling. We don't know the man that is talking on the video, obviously, because he was telling Kathryn to pose and smile like she doesn't know how to do that!

Because shes pretty enough for a post.

Chris has been gone to MN for 10 days with Jack and Kathryn. They drove back to spend the 4th of July with family. I don't have any photo's since last time we went our camera was sadly dropped. I have been home alone for the last 10 days. I don't know that I have ever been home alone in the last 22 years although Chris would argue in the early 90's he left me over night while he camped with Becky and baby Mary. That is long enough ago that I don't remember the joy of having time to myself to do what ever I want. I actually had 4 days off work in a row and kept myself so busy cleaning, painting and going through stuff I hardly sat down. Still it was great to get lots of stuff done. I also exercised everyday, which was awesome and I feel great. I was hoping to really feel the benefits of that so I can motivate myself to keep it up. I must admit I was never bored or lonely for the whole 10 days because I talked to Chris on the phone constantly. The kids were way to busy to talk to me and the few times we did talk they were obviously being inconvenienced.
Chris started the drive home to Montana on Saturday and decided to drive straight through, they were going to camp along the way and it was raining so they just kept going. Kathryn climbed in bed with me at 2 am and it was a welcome surprise! I am equally as happy to have them back as I was to get some alone time. I snuck off to church alone this morning so they could sleep in. When I got home Kathryn was dressed as a princess and her beautiful room was a disaster she had on high heels, jewelry, a crown, a lovely princess dress and she smiled at me and said "I hope you don't mind I borrowed some lipstick". The lipstick was all over her lips and made her smile a little larger then normal. Chris and Jack were still out cold.
We have had a relaxing Sunday. The temperature has finally warmed up and the weeks of rain have stopped. It is 85 and sunny.
Kathryn and I walked down to our fenced in garden plot that we didn't plant this year. It has weeds as tall as Kathryn all over it. We found 4 heads of lettuce large, green and lovely growing in the weeds, they came up all on their own. So we harvested them and washed them up really good to eat this next week. It makes me sad we have been too busy to do any gardening. It's obviously easy. We also scared up 2 baby deer sleeping in the tall grass next to our garden. They were as surprised as we were. I have only seen one baby this year, I'm not sure where the other one came from. Our yard has been a little quieter this summer compared to last. I hope everyone is having a fun summer. Love Polly

Dear Family and friends,

Lisa graduated from the College of St. Benedict in Minnesota on May 8th, 2010. Chris and I along with Jack and Kathryn drove to MN for Lisa's graduation. I realize that was a month ago, but I am finally getting around to posting. The pictures I am posting are all from the Tsang's camera. Sadly the second day we were in MN our camera got dropped and no longer works. We have some photo's on our camera, but we can't get them off since we can't turn it on and we don't own a card reader. I will figure it out eventually. In the mean time, here are photos taken by Lisa and her mom Joanna. The weather was uncooperative for the most part, the Tsang's even got to see some snow flakes on graduation day. Mostly it was windy and rainy. The sun snuck out a few times just to make us miss it even more. MN was green and lush and lovely anyway. It was so fun to be with Lisa's mom Joanna, Dad Julio, and brother Nick. We were comfortable and happy together. We are grateful that they shared Lisa with us for the past 5 years. We were sad to say good bye, not knowing when Lisa will be back in the USA again. We are excited for Lisa being done with school and off on a new adventure. Lisa is going to Japan for a year to teach English to elementary aged children. Her new job starts at the end of August. Lisa is home in Hong Kong now and has been too busy to post any pictures, hopefully she will soon, in the mean time these will have to suffice.

I guess at this point Jack and Kathryn are getting a little restless. Lisa showed us all around campus and we went with her to say good bye to friends and teachers. We finished packing up her apartment and loading her things into her parents rental car so she could stay with them at the hotel.

Latest email from Africa

I emailed Becky with questions that I had after reading her blog. You may have had some of the same questions so I will share the email. Funny fact there is a man named Mike staying in the volunteer house that Becky and Travis are in that is also from Minnesota from the same small town that Chris and I graduated high school in. Annandale MN and he grew up on Pleasant Lake. He is younger then us and we do not know him or recognize his family name. Also when Becky was online this morning and trying to get a hold of us we were at church. I knew that would happen and really considered skipping church so I could talk with our world travelers. I'm loving all the blogs and emails and I am appreciating technology on a whole new level as we can stay so connected! It is awesome. Polly

Hi Mom, here are all the answers:

We do have to pay rent, and its actually quite a bit. We’re paying 450 for our whole trip, which is almost twice as much as rent at home.

We were supposed to stay in hotel but rooms in the Komaza house opened up. Other people live there, too so we’re staying with people we work with.

I asked Mike from Annandale and he went to school with Heather. I said Froelich and he went “Yeah! I know Froelichs” but he had to really think before he thought of Heather’s name.

We have been swimming in the pool and the ocean. I prefer the pool but its shady and hard to get tan there. Travis likes the beach but it’s too seaweedy for me.

We have several drivers while we’re here that we use regularly. Our other main driver, who picked us up from the airport, is named Osito and he wants to be a famous singer in America. Travis agreed to make a music video for him this next weekend. It should be pretty awesome.

I don’t think the drivers cost very much. For example, last night we took a bus to Mumbasa (an hour away) and it was 3500 shillings for the whole group. That’s essentially 45$. We rented out the whole bus though… so it was pretty good.

Peter was great and while Matt and Travis did lots of things we talked about religion and family and things for a long time. It was very cool to learn all about his life.

I am sunburned because I forget to put on sunscreen and also because I only put on a little and thought I would be fine, but the malaria pills make me really susceptible to the sun.

We brought both laptops and we have a lot of pictures, but we have more video. The video is awesome though. There’s a family that we had dinner with tonight across the street, just outside their little mud hut and their kids LOVE the camera. Travis would film them dancing and then show it to them and they would laugh until they cried. He had like 12 kids following him around for a few hours. They learned Travis but had a hard time with Becky. They just call me Pick or Picky.

The monkeys, I think, are Vervet monkeys. I looked up Kenyan animals and those look like the ones by our pool.

Our plane ride here was fine, but we didn’t sleep much. We had the worst seats ever. London was awesome, but I’m planning on just grouping together all the London stuff after we go again in three weeks.

It’s awesome that Kathryn can read, I think you should move her on to first grade though. She’s so smart, it would be hard to stay in Kindergarten.

I wish you guys were online now. Grandma was and I asked her to call you and she said Dad was going to get online, but he hasn’t.

I wonder where you are…

Hey Family and other people,
Hope you guys really want these emails, because you’re going to get them.We’ve finally started filming and spent all day yesterday in a near by town called Ganze. The road there was unbelievably bumpy and rough but after two breakdowns and a flat-tire we made it there. (It took another breakdown and a mechanic to get it back to Kilifi, though.) We filmed all day and it would have been unbearably hot if it weren’t so windy. I was really grateful for the wind, since the wind kept down the bugs and the heat, but it made interviews pretty hard. The interviews with Farmers were really interesting. Most of the farmers could speak pretty good English. (They spoke better English than Mary, at least. Just kidding, my dyslexic sister.) Others we interviewed in Swahili with a translator. They loved to talk aboutKomaza. One question asked was how Komaza was different from other organizations working in the area and every person was quick to say“Komaza is helping us for the future. They are helping to give us a better life. Other organizations just give us food and aid for today. But what do we do when they are gone tomorrow? Komaza gives us a way to do that for ourselves.” It was a very neat experience to hear them talk about what they would spend the money on, too, since the first thing everyone said was School Fees. School here is public, but they have to pay about 100 to 200 shillings a month. That’s the American equivalent of 1.50$ to 3.00$, but it’s too much for many people. But actually it’s probably more, since after a few calculations we learned that for our small apartment in Provo we pay over 37,000 shillings for our cheapy rent. For a similar-sized apartment in Kilifi you pay less than 2,000 shillings. It’s much less to live in Kenya. Travis loves that everyone here rides bikes. They’re very sturdy bikes, too. One person will ride and carry heavy loads or multiple people on the back. There’s no way that our aluminum bikes in America could hold so much weight. Travis is thinking of buying one, since it’s only about 20 dollars, and then we’d just ship it home. Even 100$ of shipping wouldn’t be too much for such a sturdy bike. We heard before we came that Kenyan food was really bad, and I think poorer people do eat much worse than us, since often they just eat corn flour mixed with water. It’s not very nutritional at all which is why so many children are mal-nourished. But they’re not big-bellied and dirty with big sad eyes. They’re happy, relatively healthy children who just don’t always eat their vegetables. Add a few Doritos and they’d probably get about as healthy a lunch as an American kid. But as for us, we’ve been eating really, really well. Yesterday we each had a mango, about the size of a baby’s head. Seriously gigantic, juicy and delicious. We have a private cook and housekeeper, who makes our beds, washes our dishes and makes us delicious curry every evening. Didn’t I say I want to stay here forever? Rice is a definite staple for us Mzungus, we’ve had it with every meal so far. Yum, I love rice. Especially cilantro and lime spiced rice. I want it every day. Yesterday we were up by 5:30 and didn’t get to bed until after 11. It’s really tough when you’re actually working, hiking, and carryingtons of film equipment all day under the Lion King sun (Boy am Isunburned). So this morning we got a chance to sleep in and we started the day with Yoga on the beach at 8am (I said sleep in,right?) and then went for a swim as the tide came in. So far, it’s a perfect start for the day. It’s only 11, but we’ll have rice and beans for lunch soon, along with bread that’s like a mix between tortillas and naan. Oooh, it’s perfect here.

Going to Africa!

Hi everyone!
For those of you who don't know, Travis and I are leaving in less than a week to spend some time in Africa. I admit, we've reached the freaking-out-a-bit stage.
Travis, (I think you might all know) is Documentary Film Maker, and is particularly interested in Short-form Documentaries, most are only somewhere between 2 and 15 minutes long.
They're the kind of documentaries you see on YouTube or Vimeo.
We'll be making several such documentaries in Africa.

First in Kenya, we'll be working with KOMAZA. They're a social entrepreneurship that helps farmers afford drought-resistant fast-growing trees which can sell as a cash crop, helping the farmer get out of debt. But the trees also enrich the landscape and environment, making the good-effects for Kenya itself long term.

Then in Uganda we'll be working with HELP International. They help with dozens of different things, but we'll be working particularly with an Eye Camp. Because the houses and huts in Uganda have such poor ventilation, many people go blind when they are very young.
HELP International provides eye-surgery or glasses to many people, as well as helping build adobe stoves that will prevent such problems from continuing.

We are super excited to go and really grateful for all the support of our friends and family. I hate to ask for more, since most of you have really helped us out, but I'm going to.
We got a grant for 5,000$ to go film.
But our flights alone cost 4,800$.
After 400$ of shots, paying for our bills while we're gone (like rent and phone bills, etc), and buying last minute camera equipment we're pretty low in the hole, even after hours of fundraising.
If you could donate even a dollar (though we wouldn't say no to more) it would be an entire meal for us in Africa.

Geocaching

Once again everyone at our house was sick this weekend. Kathryn has had a fever and sore throat for 3 days and been miserable. She still doesn't like to be slowed down though. She is unhappy being told to rest and watch a movie and she wants to play with her friends. I have also had some of what Kathryn has had, but mostly I think it's a sinus infection. I still suffered through work because what are my choices. It was a little embarassing when patients asked me "are you sick?" "do you have allergies?" "looks like you've got a little cold". I did look miserable. Chris is still suffering with back pain and even though he is having a really hard time like Kathryn, he doesn't like to slow down. So this weekend we had to get out of the house and instead of just going for a drive we decided do do some Geocaching. If you are uncertain what that is watch the video below.

We went a few times last summer and we went once with Renn and Keira. Keira is a real pro at geocaching and used to go every weekend a few years ago so she taught us some tips. Chris has a hand held GPS that he downloaded all the coordinates on for certain areas. We let Kathryn hold it when we are out of the car and walking and she just follows the red arrow until we get within a few feet and start to search. Jack wasn't really sick this week end but suffers from genuine laziness and we had to force him and his pillow, blanket and book into the Suburban to come along. We stayed close to home, we were within 3 miles of our house the whole time and went to about 7 places. It was fun because we found parks we didn't know existed. Geocaches cannot be hidden on private land. The first place we went we didn't find the treasure because the area we went to had recently had all the trees cut down so we think the treasure was lost. Actually we only found 3 of the geocaches. I said to Chris "it's OK because we are outside with our kids discovering new areas and having fun!" He said "you can keep telling yourself that's what it is about but really it's about finding the geocache." Oh well. Our favorite place we went was a trail called "Moose Can Gulley" it was right in a suburban area and it was a large undeveloped park many acres long and very hidden. We looked for two geocaches there and didn't find either, but the park was the real find. Chris and Jack can't wait to go back with mountain bikes and check out the trails. At one point while walking Chris and Jack were far ahead of Kathryn and I and we couldn't see them. We heard Chris yell and I said to Kathryn "I hope dad isn't getting attacked by a mountain lion" and Kathryn said "I think Jack will save him, Jack is our hero!"
PS: we didn't see any mountain lions.

I must say this new little friend is very healthy and happy. She is going to live for a long time. I can sense it. Kathryn is allowed to say good morning to her everyday and then play with her after school and before bed for 15 minutes. I even set the timer. I think Minnie likes to play with her too. She really doesn't try to get away. She eats out of Kathryn's hand which Kathryn loves. I love this picture, Kathryn looks so sweet! She is growing up to fast, she will be 5 in May! Kindergarten next fall, yikes!

The post right before this post I wrote a week ago and never finished. So I'll fill you in on the last week. But first read the post before this then continue here.
The hamster has been named Minnie Becky Froelich in honor of Kathryn's sister Becky Pitcher and Minnie Mouse. We call the hamster Minnie. Also Kathryn's wish came true and she has been sick this whole week. High fever, sore throat and cough with non stop runny nose. No fun. Monday I came home early from work because Jack and Kathryn were both miserable sick. Tuesday Chris stayed home. Wednesday Jack and Kathryn and Mary were all home sick and Thursday Mary stayed with Kathryn. Today is Friday and Kathryn went to school. If I didn't have to work I would've given her one more day off. She has been sleeping all day everyday. I guess this morning she was pretty hyper though and I think she has had cabin fever. Jack on the other hand didn't go to school today. He has gone camping with the boy scouts. They are building snow caves and sleeping in them tonight. It is going to be wet and cold and Jack didn't want to miss it. I thought he should miss it since he missed two days of school this week but I was over ruled. Chris did log on to the parent link on the school web site and Jack doesn't have a single late or missing assignment. I just hope he stays warm. He will spend the entire day digging with his partner a long tunnel through the snow and then a cave to sleep in. Hopefully there will be enough snow,unlike the rest of the country we didn't get much snow this year.
I hope every one has a good weekend. I will try to write little blogs more often. I really need to post some videos, Kathryn is non stop action, she is super funny. Singing, dancing and reciting poems and stories, lots of fun. I wish you could be a part of it. Love Polly

Too Long!

Hi Everyone,

I am at work with little time to spend blogging but want to explain why it has been so long since I've blogged. Chris says I have no excuse and I need to post more. I'm so sorry to have let everyone down. Working full time has taken over my life. I get home at 5:30 if I'm lucky and feed the kids and do dishes and put kids to bed and put myself to bed. Not my favorite. I like to be a little more relaxed then that. The weekends I do laundry and drive the kids where they need to be, grocery shop and clean. So what has become of me? I'm just like way to many other women. Not to complain because I'm happy to be here and working. I just don't have time for me. I will write today without pictures, I know people love pictures.

We've had a busy last few months. Kathryn has been sick several times for a week at a time, so that has made life complicated and no fun for Kathryn. She has put it behind her and forgotten all about it. She said to me last night "someday I'd like to be sick so I know what it feels like."

I assured her that someday she will be sick. I'm sure you read on Becky's blog that we got a new hamster this week named "Becky" . Well little, furry, Becky didn't even live 24 hours, we don't know why. I never even let anyone hold it. I wanted to introduce it slowly to our family. I replaced it yesterday while Kathryn was at school and didn't tell her that little furry Becky died. Amazingly the new Becky is larger and a different color and a really good eater! Kathryn didn't notice. Proof that it was held very little. Jack asked Kathryn if she noticed anything new about the hamster(because he is dying to tell her) and Kathryn said "yes, she is moving her legs today and her eyes are open" We are trying to convince Kathryn to change the hamsters name as it causes lots of confusion.

Jack still tries to get out of going to school almost everyday. I'm not sure why, they just play all day. Today his grade went on a field trip to Lost Trail a ski resort to ski all day. He had to be to school by 7:30 and we pick him up at 6:00 tonight. Also this week Jack started some after school activities to keep him busy so he isn't home alone after school for 1 1/2 hours everyday. Mondays he is doing winter sports, Tuesday wild life film documentary class, Wednesdays swimming! (Thursdays and Fridays Chris is home by 3:00). Jack is loving it! He also is on the student council, so he is pretty busy. His latest love is riding his bike and making obstacle courses through the yard. He is spending a lot less time on the computer and TV since we grounded him from them. His only TV time is with Kathryn and he isn't that in to 4 year old shows, although he will watch them when he is desperate for veg time.

On Christmas eve, Mary and I made many many many sugar cookies,

and ginger cookies, not ginger bread cookies. But, they turned out as tasty as they could be. ;)

Lets just say, Mary made this recipe up.

It took almost the whole afternoon to make it...

Hello! This is Lisa!

We have been staying at Grandma Mary's these couple days while the Froelichs (Chris, Jack and Kathryn) are here in Minnesota. The Froelichs and I will be driving back to Montana tomorrow early morning ;)

These couple days I have been playing with Kathryn, Gus and Uncle Matt quite a lot. We went out to eat, groceries shopping, went to outlet mall and visit Nichole and Chelsea! It's been nice to be able to see Nichole, Chelsea and the rest of the family. (I have super cute pictures of Aurora and Xander!!!)

and just when I had given hope of ever acquiring more cousins, Renn gets married, then Kiera gets pregnant, and today, voila! a baby: Isaac Michael Patch.
I was worried that I wouldn't get a call when they finally had their baby, since it took me days to find out Renn was engaged, but I got three calls today.
I went to the hospital after work.

Isaac is very heavy, 8lbs 2oz, and 20 inches long, my arms got tired.
He is healthy and soft and smells like Johnson's baby wash. Perfect baby smell.

Halloween 2009

Jack tried to make a cloak so he could be a white wizard, he changed his mind and decided to be "ICE"
He also considered being a soldier, but in the end he trick or treated as a zombie and I never even saw him in his costume. I'm sure I wouldn't have liked it so it is probably a good thing that I didn't get a picture of him. Jack went to a friends house for the night and trick or treated and slept over. Chris and I had a quiet night on the couch watching Lord of the Rings. I told Chris this is what the future holds, just the two of us. He said "yeah when?" and I said "Maybe fifteen years from now." The longer it takes the better, we like having our kids around!

Fall is finally here

Today Kathryn Jack and I had no school. Mostly we just laid around the house and played on our ipod touches and put fun games on them. After a while though we decided to do something productive. Jack and dad went and played golf and kathryn and I stayed home and made a Apple Pie with home grown apples. It was a lot of work and took about 1 1/2 to make and then another hour to bake, but it was worth the wait. Kathryn and I took turns taking pictures during the two hour period.

Kathryn got a call from Uncle Matt in Minnesota and was very excited. We miss him a lot. Below is a picture of the stars we found in the apples.

Over all it was a very fun day, and the pie was delicious and a wonderful start for fall. Can't wait for the leaves to change.

Common Ground reception

On a beautiful day like this, I had the reception for my 2person's show with my friend Paula.

Everything was still up by the time reception started, and when it ended!!

We had many visitors stopped by and wrote us some comments, and Paula's parents made delicious bread and cookies, and brought more bread and pop corn + lemonade as refreshments!

It worked out better than I thought, and as I was talking with some friends, guess who I saw walking into the gallery!!

Grandma Mary and Grandpa Roger!! How amazing was that!!??
They totally surprised me, and I didn't realize they were gonna come, as Grandma Mary said she left me a comment on the blog...hehe, I was very excited.

I just found out I won't be able to have a ride-back to MN after flying one-way there, as I was hoping to catch a ride....so the solution 1) is buying one-way ticket back tonight/asap 2) riding with Matt Patt + Logan/Jordan from MN to UT. That would be amazing if it worked out...

Just another working Mom

I haven't been writing lately because my life has changed, again. Life is always changing so I should just learn to adapt and go with the flow. For those that don't know I started working full time in August. I work at a dental office as the receptionist. The office has 3 employees, the dentist, me and the dental assistant. It is a small and new practice, just 2 years old. The dentist is a good friend of ours from church, that is why I was able to land such an awesome job. Honestly I've never pictured myself as a receptionist before. Well, I've had trouble picturing myself as anything other then a mother, or possibly a undercover agent for the CIA (but that's not real). So I am off on a new adventure. My first few weeks of work were quite stressful trying to learn all the new things I need to learn while trying to pretend I knew what was going on and that it all made sense to me. Also trying to figure out what all my kids are doing and who is in charge and what's for dinner (nothing is for dinner, so that was easy). Things are getting easier every day and I really am beginning to feel like I'm making a difference in the practice and I understand how to do most of what I need to and I'm learning more every day. For the last week the dental assistant has been out of the office for a funeral and I have been the dental assistant. I'm flexible like that, I'm willing to branch out and try new things, who knew? Luckily I had a face mask and dark sunglasses on so the patients couldn't see my expressions of horror as I sucked up their saliva and blood, or oops, their lips. haha. Anyway that is what I've been up to, I wish I could say "let's do lunch, I have lots of free time" but my free time won't come for a few more years when Chris is done with school. I'm sad to have Kathryn in school full time at 4 years old, none of my other kids had to do that. Of all my kids though Kathryn is the most out going and able to adapt to this new schedule. She is mostly happy and excited to go to school, but a little bored too. She likes more unstructured free time and she likes to be in charge so this is different and an adjustment. Also I'm still trying to find time to help Becky and Travis plan a wedding which gives me some stress. Jack got swine flu this past week and although he is already back to school and no one else got sick that was stressful. It is hard work being a working mom, why do women do this to themselves, we have enough to do!

Not to complain though because I'm grateful and enjoying it, I just need to learn how to juggle.

A new school year

Sorry I haven't written in sooo long. Life has been too busy and I see no signs of things slowing down for me in the next few years. Last week Chris, Jack and Mary started school on Monday. Kathryn didn't start school until Thursday. Mary has a pretty sweet schedule. She has no school on Tuesdays and the rest of the week she has class noon to three. She does have 2 online classes, but she doesn't even need to get dressed for those. She is very excited.

Jack started 6th grade and is now at the middle school. He has nothing interesting to say about that except that his teacher "is one of those crazy people that believes we evolved from apes".

Chris has a really tough first semester, although he is done with class by 3 everyday, but not done with school. He will be working hard and studying hard everyday.

Kathryn started school on Thursday and couldn't wait to get out the door. I told her that class starts at 8:30 and she is usually still asleep then so she needs to start going to bed early. She said "if you can't get me to wake up, just carry me out to the car and buckle me in my seat"

She has gotten up with out a problem both days though because she is so excited. I'm sure she will keep her teachers busy. I asked her how her day went on day two and she said "great except all day my teacher kept saying don't do that, put that back, not right now Kathryn" We were hoping school would wear her out, but she comes home begging to go play with the neighbor kids.

80 Miles and 20,000 ft of Elevation

Here is the first installment of pictures from my "epic" backpacking trek through glacier national park. We entered the east side at Many Glacier and exited at Kintla Lake. It has been 10 days since our escape, and I am still healing physically. When people ask me how it was, my answer is "it was sort of like childbirth, a lot of pain and sacrifice but after it was all done I had something I was very proud of". Even now the memory of the pain is starting to fade, and I'm thinking about how nice the next one will be.

I will tell you upfront, that when the trip was over, our brains were so rattled by exertion and fatigue that we didn't think to take any pictures at the Polebridge Mercantile. If you are ever within a hundred miles of that place-GO EAT. Wow. I think I probably ate 5000 calories in one sitting and that was AFTER eating a big juicy buffalo burger (see following) and the road there isn't nearly as bad as people make it out to be!

Next door to the Mercantile is the Northern Lights Cafe (something like that). It is everything you want a backcountry burger joint to be. We staggered in there to eat, but (oh no!) they were not open. The owner came out, saw our dejected expressions, took pity on us and said if we were willing to "settle" for some buffalo burgers, we could sit back, have a Coke, and she would fire up the grill. I have to preface the next statement with the fact that I was literally starving (shout out to you Tim), but that buffalo burger was flipping awesome and the Bob Marley on the stereo was too groovy by half for any other place, but perfect for the cafe.

Ok, now to the pictures.

The ones that I'm posting here were taken on a Holga Camera.
For those of you who don't know what a Holga is, it is a toy camera from the 80s.
They are goofy and plastic, they produce square photographs, and the color of photos are determined by nothing in particular.
(I took a roll of Holga photos a few weeks ago and every single picture turned out pink.)

So I love Travis, I love Holgas and I am crazy in love with how charming and (dare I say it?) whimsical our pictures turned out.

Travis proposed late Monday night (almost Tuesday morning), and I - of course - said YES!

We're hoping to get married in just a few months, and so even though I'm only a day and a half into being engaged, it's already busy, busy, busy.

We spent the morning looking at apartments, and tonight Sophie and I are going to look at wedding dresses.

2 Weeks of Bigelows

Well I have been up at the Lindsays cabin for the past 2 1/2 weeks with 17 children my brain is spent. It's been a lot of work, 24/7, lets just say I know now what it's like to be a mom and I think I'll wait a little while longer. Here are a few photos I have taken, this is my new life. Or at least it is till the 22 then I'm free. Today is my first break in about 3 weeks and I've decided to brief you on my little adventures as a nanny.

This is Michael after nap, we had the house to ourselves for about 15 minutes, then these boys came.

As a nanny I have a lot of jobs one of them happens to be blowing bubbles every once and a while. The kids had a lot of fun. They would wait and then jump into the water to try and pop them as they flew by.

I also paint there faces...and let them paint mine in return. Maggie is the artist of my tiger look below.

Then there is just the playing with them in the water as well and saving crying babies from uncle Jessie.

I was thrown from a jet ski 4 times and it tipped with me on it at least once by the older boys (Jacob, Nickel, Patrik). This was most likely do to the fact that before we started I told them nothing they did could in fact scare me. Well I learned my lesson and am here to warn you, do not tell teenage boys nothing scares you. They will in fact prove you wrong... and quite fast. Although all my jet skiing adventures where really fun. They made me happier at least.

I hope you're all having a fun summer without me, I'm not trying to ignore you I'm just working...always.

I changed the music on the sidebar.
But before you freak out, for those of you who actually like the music, I can change it back.

This is Kathryn, she is 4. Here are some funny things she has had to say lately:

While swimming with Nichole: " I think the seaweed thinks that we are seaweed, that's why it keeps grabbing our legs"

While hiking at the hottest part of the day: "I really need an energy drink!" do you know what an energy drink is? "Yes, coffee with 2 pumps of chocolate!" (Don't worry I won't give her one)

Inside Lewis and Clark caverns 200 feet below the earths surface she raised her hand in front of a group of 25 people and asked the tour guide "Why is it so creepy in here?"

At our lovely hotel on the way home from MN she laid back on the bed with her legs crossed and said "It's times like this when I say Princess Kathryn, you've got it good!"

Yesterday she told me to "watch out for my credit card hand" (sorry grandpa I'm not sure where she learned that)

While swimming at Flathead Lake she lost her footing and wasn't wearing her life jacket, she swallowed some water and was really freaked out, when she settled down she said "why wasn't I wearing a life jacket? Why didn't you tell me I don't know how to swim, I thought I knew how to swim!"

Playing in her room I heard her say in a sweet little voice: "Fairy Godmother will you please turn me into a good little girl instead of a bad little girl?" "Thank you Fairy Godmother"

We think she is a good little girl already!
