After mt. fuji weekend, we had a weekend for a place called karuizawa, which is like a weekend getaway to let exchange student meet and really get to know the japanese students. Then we had a homestay weekend!! And currently this past weekend, we had a shrine festival in our neighborhood, all the foreign students get to carry a portable shrine. I will post those pictures once I get them from my friends :)
It's been busy, and eventful during this first month in Tokyo. I miss home, and miss Minnesota constanly. I thought about and talked about my host family a lot, when people are confused why I went to MN for college and ... now being in Tokyo..

This is back to Tokyo. A group of us went to dinner after going to a Ad museum for one of our classes. We all went to a Karaoke place afterwards too. :)
This is one of the Johnnies in the group, in the Tokyo Metro.
Homestay Weekend
How do you get to know and have fun with people you just met?
Maybe take those picture stickes together?
Or..
Go to Disney Sea together!?
That would work! Figuring out which place to go, plus you talk to each other when you are waiting in line for 70 mins for rides.
If spending the day in Disney Sea didn't bring you and your friends together...
Try screaming together!! It's good bonding time!

The one below is Lisa, Ayaka and her friend Siori going to the Center of the Earth.

Ayaka is my homestay sister. I try to separate "homestay" and "host". My Homestay family was that weekend, my host family is gonna be with me forever. But Ayaka's family is really nice and she is such a sweet girl...

Did you do karaoke? haha! Do you only do a homestay visit once? I hope you learned how to make something yummy for us! It looks like you had fun at Disney! Your homestay family looks super nice. The picture of the white puppy looks like a cartoon or stuffed animal.
Oh! Lisa! I love you so much. Your pictures are so much fun, and you look like you're having a blast.
I'm glad you'll be with us forever.
Lisa, you look like you are having such a good time, I saved the photo with your pink Disney ears and put it on the frig with all the other "grandkid" photos. We miss you and look forward to your return. Hope you will be back in time for Mary's graduation.
Lisa, I think you are a bad example for Becky. She thinks she can go off to London and be a party girl like you. Does your mother know you are having so much fun? Can we see a picture of you studying, just to prove that you do? (You know I am teasing you, right?) Love, Grama
Lisa-San. If I may give you a recommendation. Go to the Tsukiji at 5:30 AM and head to the tuna auction house. Specifically the Fresh tuna. Watch the buyers carefully at how they grade the tuna by size, color, fat content, etc. See if you can see which tuna are drawing attention and then watch as the auction comes alive. Once the auction is over, follow one of the tuna to a stall and watch how the fishmonger ceremoniously fillets the fish into all of its parts. When you are done and ready for breakfast, I recommend Daiwa Sushi. The O Toro and Chu Toro are the best, but heavy on the wallet. Even the Maguro is better than almost anything elsewhere. I really liked the unagi as the sushi chef toasts the eel right there for you. I know it sounds very early, but there is really no where else to repeat the experience. I have done it three times. Last time I also bought a sushi knife from Masamoto-san, the longest running knife maker in Tsukiji market.
