Jack's burn update

I planned on posting sooner then this, but Jack is a busy kid which makes me a busy mom.
When we posted the first time we didn't really know what a big deal this is or how long the healing process for a burn is, and I still don't feel like I know a lot.  Jack has been great and had minimal pain thanks to great pain medication.  If we don't stay on top of the meds. though he suffers, so we have gotten really good at keeping track of the time he takes his pills.  I am exhausted as I need to set the alarm and get up 2-3x a night to give him his pills.  I can't complain too much though because I'm not the one that needs the pills.  We went to a wound care doctor yesterday and he will plan on debrieding the wound on Tuesday morning.  What does that entail?
Jack will go to a surgery center and get put under and the wound will be scraped clean.  The doctor will then be able to get a better idea how deep the burn is and whether or not Jack will need skin grafts.  Sounds horrible and painful.  We will need to go to the doctors for the following week for wound cleaning and changing as it will be too painful to do at home.  Jack is happy he gets to sleep through that and so am I!  If he needs grafts that will be done 10 days later.  He will need to stay in the hospital for that procedure and we don't know how long that will be.  I looked at a few different burns online and it sounds like a long healing process.  The doctor also said Jack is probably done with school for the rest of the year because the risk of infection is so high if his leg isn't kept elevated at all times.  Obviously we will have a better idea what to expect after Tuesday.  In the meantime here are some photos of Jack and how he entertains himself.
Jack and Kathryn and I went to the park for a picnic to get Jack out of the house.  We weren't there for long and it was a beautiful sunny day.  Jack tried swinging mostly for a blog photo.  He is a good sport.  Kathryn was a riot she kept saying "a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do, build a sandcastle, or swing, or slide"  whatever...
This is wound care on Tuesday the 7th, the blood is a positive thing, he still has blood flowing through there.  The yellow stuff is just the cream we put on him it starts out white and changes color because it has silver in it which is a natural antibiotic.  Pretty cool, I'm learning new things.  Jack sits with his head back and a cold wash clothe over his eyes and he does great!
Chilling out on the big chair in Kathryn's room, watching a movie on the laptop.  Kathryn has been sleeping there at night as Jack is in her bed so he doesn't need to go up and down stairs and he is close to us.
Totally zoning out
Chilling out on the couch playing a computer game.  Please drop Jack an email as he is bored and would love the attention and enjoys emailing back.
